Origins of Republican Gun Control Solutions

A joke from the 1970's  appears to be in the form of a sad reality today in our country:

The U.S. has 5 percent of the world's population, but accounts for half of all firearms world-wide and 80 percent of gun deaths in the 23 richest countries.

Last year, handguns killed 48 people in Japan, 8 in Great Britain, 34 in Switzerland, 52 in Canada, 58 in Israel, 21 in Sweden, 42 in Germany....and

10,728 IN THE UNITED STATES.

"Guns don't kill people....people kill people."

Well, then....

There should be mandatory gun safety courses for people, not guns.

There should be more thorough background checks of people, not guns.

There should be stricter negligence penalties imposed on people, not guns.
